The Blurb:
Martha Andersson and her friends - the League of Pensioners - have left behind their dreary care home in Stockholm and are enjoying the bright lights of Las Vegas.
This is their opportunity for a new lease of life and they plan to make the most of it. But before long, they are up to their old tricks. And with ingenious tactics, a pair of false teeth and a wheelchair each, they plot to outwit the security system at one of the casinos. As their antics become more and more daring, Martha and her friends head back to Sweden to continue their money-making schemes. However, they aren't the only ones planning on stealing bucket loads of cash and soon find themselves pitted against a gang of dangerous criminals.
Can the group of elderly friends work together to outsmart the younger robbers and get away with their biggest heist yet? Or will this job be a step too far for the League of Pensioners?
The Review:
The sequel to The Little Old Lady Who Broke All The Rules is finally here and I loved it even more. A book full of quirkiness, fun and crazy but genius crimes, what could possibly go wrong?
I laughed and cried my way through this book and even had an "oh my gosh, did I read that right?" moment. I love the way the friendships and relationships have developed even more in this book and it had me crying happily at how beautiful and strong those bonds had become. It just proves that no one is too old to find love again or to have adventures.
I really enjoyed the mischief that the League of Pensioners got up to and how they managed to baffle a lot of people along the way. It just shows that even when you're an older generation you can still outwit the younger generation.
I'm also glad that we got to know the characters better within this book and my favourite moment involved Anna-Greta as it was just a comical but brilliant link to make. (Let's see if you can guess what moment that was).
For all the things that went wrong, I'm glad that they were making use of what they had available to benefit those who were being failed by society and I believe that more should be done so that people get the best care and treatment possible no matter what stage of their life they're at.
I found this sequel even funnier than the first and I was at points terrified for the League of Pensioners as they only want to do good for others around them but seemed to fall into trouble when being pitted against a group of bikers. How many people do you know who would go to as much trouble to achieve that?
I am so glad I got to rejoin the adventures of the little old lady and her friends, and I hope there are more adventures to come as I want to know more about the development of the relationships between the characters.
